Description:
Abstract: Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Police Districts. The dataset contains polygons representing of MPD Districts, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies. Police jurisdictions were initially created selecting street arcs from the planimetric street centerlines and street polygons, water polygons, real property boundaries and District of Columbia boundaries.2019 Boundary Changes:Periodically, MPD conducts a comprehensive assessment of our patrol boundaries to ensure optimal operations. This effort considers current workload, anticipated population growth, development, and community needs. The overarching goals for the 2019 realignment effort included: optimal availability of police resources, officer safety and wellness, and efficient delivery of police services. These changes took effect on 01/10/2019.On 03/27/2019, this boundary was modified to adjust dispatching of North Capitol Street’s northwest access roads to be more operationally efficient.

Attribute Accuracy Report: Data believed to be complete and accurate as of the time period cited. Subject to change. Digital version compared with original source data for accuracy and completeness. Validated by source and/or responsible agency. Staff check for boundaries that intersected select planimetric features, such as buildings. Then, staff checked all the text descriptions of the 44 PSA boundaries against the psa arc coverage, snapbase, and street centerlines. MPD also reviewed the PSAs against the planimetrics, text descriptions, and existing files.

Process Step:
Process Description:
· Snapset from 8/1/2011 assembled from the following source layers: o District BNDY o RAIL o RoadPly o StreetSegmentLn o WATER o OwnerPly Procedure: 1. The reference materials were assembled in the ArcMap 9.3.1 environment. The prj file defined the projection in which arcs were selected to define the PSAs. 2. For arcs that required spatial modifications like splitting, snapping, or drawing in new segments, segments were created in ArcMap. 3. After all the segments that comprise the PSAs were completed, the analyst selected all the arcs and placed into a new coverage. This new coverage was used to QC the selections if there were any segments missing to enclose polygons or self intersecting arcs. Staff performed a build on the coverage to identify arcs with topological errors. 4. The PSA coverage attribute table was then populated with the PSA 5. Staff then saved the changes and the process is completed.
