Police stations were identified from lists published by the Metropolitan Police Department website. A point shapefile was created by geocoding the addresses. These points were compared to the 1995 orthophotographs, the building footprint layer, and the D.C. Real Property Tax owner points for address and ownership information. The square suffix lot attribute was retained as the link to the data from the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue. A link to the appropriate website was provided for reference. The geocoded points were then moved to the center of the corresponding buildings and core attributes were added. Changes made to the dataset include: updated address information for ROC North, new location for the ROC East police station, and the addition of the Fourth District substation. All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
Staff added the Latino Liason Unit and verified the attributes and location against source documents and the ownerpoints. Due to the new PSAs, staff changed the name of the 4th District Substation to the 3rd District Substation.
Removed extraneous MPD facilities that were not a HQ, station, substation, or liaison unit.
OCTO GIS staff reviewed this layer for any changes. Point for the Asian Liason Unit was moved to proper address point 616 H Street NW. It was previously located on 611 H Street NW. The First District Ministation point was removed from the data because it is a mobile unit with no permanent address information.
Staff removed Regional Operation Command (ROC) police stations and verified information with MPD
Lists of facility and office locations were obtained from the Metropolitan Police Department. Staff created a point shapefile by geocoding the addresses to the Master Address Repository (MAR). The remainding points that did not geocode were manually placed using the planimetrics and 2003 orthophoto.
Move first district police station to 101 M ST SW.
